Do you love HGTV, Food Network & Travel Channel?

by Kristi on January 14, 2012

I am an HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel junkie and had no idea that they had an exclusive online community where people can share opinions, thoughts, and ideas about topics related to home, food, travel and more! It is called Under One Roof and is a great place to share experiences in home improvement, decorating, cooking, shopping, entertaining, traveling, vacations, etc.

What is cool about this community is that you earn points for rewards by participating in surveys and discussion forums. Once you’ve qualified and confirmed your membership in the community, you will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of three $250 amazon.com electronic gift cards.

2011: Year in Review

by Kristi on December 31, 2011

Each year I create a Vision Board to help me really focus on my goal. It is always fun to look back to see how much I actually accomplished.  Here are the things that are on my board that did happen:

  • Disney Vacation~ (we actually had 2 trips to Disney this year!)
  • Mastering Your Money~ By using our Envelope System, I really did get better at getting my spending under control.
  • New Laptop~ Thanks to my eBay business, I was able to afford a NEW Toshiba laptop!
  • Make Organization Great~ I started off the year organizing everything from the linen closet to my plastic containers.
  • New Front loading Washing Machine~ When my washer died this fall, we were able to buy one with cash!
  • Paint brush~ We did a lot of painting this year: my family room &  2 bedrooms! I learned that painting isn’t cheap, but there are ways to cut costs.
  • New Fridge~ You know how it goes, appliances seem to die in threes. The fridge died almost as soon as the year began. Thankfully, we got a great deal at Sears & used our rainy day fund.
  • DLSR Camera~ I justified this purchase for my business and because we were going to Disney. I was able to purchase with cash, once again, from my eBay business.
  • Crock Pot One-Dish~ I really have some favorite Crock pot meals, like pulled pork that I make quite often, but I didn’t venture into making as many crock pot meals as I would have liked.
  • Yoga~ didn’t get to this one, although I tried some yoga moves on the Biggest Loser Wii game.
  • Cash as a Gift~ Funny enough, we did get cash for Christmas.
  • Kindle~ Sure would have loved to get one of these, but it wasn’t in the budget!
  • Spending time with my family on a beach somewhere, getting peace~ Don’t we all wish for this? Well, we actually booked a family trip for this spring.
  • Express Your Creative Side~ While I love to scrapbook, I haven’t spent as much time doing it as I would like, so I am hoping to get the creative juices flowing in 2012.
  • Skype~ I really wanted to learn how to do this. I signed up, but really don’t have anyone to Skype with.
  • Good Dog~ Our dog will be 2 in February and while she is a cutie, she is a handful. I was hoping to get her to obedience school, but it is soo expensive. Instead, I watched Dog Whisperer on TV and tried some of his methods. Worked pretty well.
  • You, improved & Finding the Right Words~ I am a work in progress.
  • Confidence~Although I am confident in some respects, I still am a work in progress.
  • Drop 5 lbs~ notice this is at the end. Again, I am a work in progress.

So, all in all, I can say that it was a wonderful year! Tomorrow,  I will spend some time creating my vision for 2012. What things are you hoping to accomplish in 2012?
