Winstrol is one of the most popular and well-known anabolic steroids on earth. Developed by Winthrop Laboratories in the late 1950s, this is an anabolic steroid that has garnered media attention over the years. In fact, those who have never taken anabolic steroids, if they can name one steroid, it’s usually Winstrol or Stanozolol. The name Winstrol is actually the trade name most commonly associated with the hormone stanozolol. It is an anabolic steroid that has grabbed worldwide attention for many years due to numerous sports scandals. When various athletes have been caught using anabolic steroids, Winstrol has been at the forefront of scandal countless times. In fact, it is linked to the biggest sports steroid scandal in history.
In 1988, Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson tested positive for steroids after winning gold at that year’s Summer Olympics. Johnson not only destroyed his rivals, but also defeated his beloved Carl Lewis with relative ease. This would have allowed Stanozolol to make countless headlines for a very long time and, more importantly, to really start the US government’s war on steroids. Johnson’s storyline isn’t the biggest athletic-based steroid scandal, likely to have been tied to a decades-old doping machine in East Germany; however, the Johnson scandal will have the greatest impact. When Ben Jonson destroyed America’s golden boy, many point to him as the final nail in the coffin that the US Congress needed to justify the designation of anabolic steroids as a Schedule III controlled substance.
The most famous anabolic steroid
Winstrol is one of the best known anabolic steroids, but it is very popular among most people who use steroids. In many ways, this is a fairly mild anabolic steroid that both men and women can safely use. Equally important, it has proven to be very effective for many productivity attempts. It’s a longtime favorite among competitive bodybuilders and physical athletes during the pre-competition or cutting stages. It is also the best steroid for many athletes due to its ability to build strength and endurance without the unwanted bulk.
In addition to performance enhancement, Winstrol has found great success in modern medicine. It has been used successfully to combat muscle wasting and has had great success in maintaining bone mass in osteoporosis. Winstrol has also been used to combat long-term corticosteroid exposure, given to burn victims, and has even been used to treat severe bone fractures. The steroid has also had little success in treating obesity when hormonal support is needed, as well as in treating stunted growth in some children. Over the years, Winstrol has remained available to treat most of these conditions and has also been found to be very effective in treating angioedema among several other treatment plans such as certain forms of breast cancer.
Functions and Features of Winstrol:
Stanozolol is an anabolic androgenic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT), or more specifically its structurally modified form. Stanozolol is a DHT hormone with two structural changes that give us the compound Winstrol. The first change is the introduction of a pyrazole group attached to the A ring of the hormone, replacing the 3-keto group. This modification officially classifies stanozolol as a heterocyclic steroid. The hormone also carries an added methyl group to protect the hormone after ingestion. This structural change occurs at the 17th carbon position, officially classifying stanozolol as a C17-alpha-alkylated (C17-aa) anabolic steroid.
Through a combination of structural changes, this greatly reduces the hormone’s androgenicity and dramatically increases its anabolic potency. Officially, Winstrol has an anabolic rating of 320 and an androgenic rating of 20. More importantly, its ratings translate beautifully into real effects, giving us an extremely beneficial anabolic steroid.
Winstrol has many positive steroidal properties, one of which is its ability to significantly reduce levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). This allows more steroids to be delivered from the quiescent state to the unbound state, and also provides an increase in free testosterone. Although many anabolic steroids reduce SHBG levels, Winstrol seems have a much stronger affinity than most. In fact, studies have shown an almost 50% reduction in SHBG within a few days of use and even at relatively low doses.
Besides reducing SHBG level, which is one of its main features, Winstrol improves protein synthesis and significantly increases nitrogen retention in the muscles. The steroid will also do a fairly decent job of increasing red blood cell count and inhibiting glucocorticoid hormones, although not to the same degree as many other steroids. In many ways, we have a moderate but consistent possession of some of the key steroid properties, combined with a dramatic reduction in SHBG, giving us a controlled and unique compound. It really is one of the easiest anabolic steroids to understand.
Considering the direct functions and properties of winstrol, we need to discuss another issue. The Stanozolol hormone is an injectable and oral anabolic steroid. Both forms consist of the same identical stanozolol hormone. 1 mg of one form equals 1 mg of another form. Some studies have shown that oral Winstrol may lower SHBG levels slightly more than its injectable counterpart, while others say the injectable form may be slightly more effective on a milligram-by-milligram basis. However, in general, these differences seem rather insignificant, regardless of the direction in which they evolve. In fact, a person should be able to receive the same benefits in any form.
Another important note that is often misunderstood about Winstrol forms is the nature of C17-aa. Both oral and injectable stanozolol are C17-aa anabolic steroids. Most oral steroids belong to the C17-aa group, and although injectable steroids are rarely used for injection, stanozolol is one of the exceptions. The injectable form is also commonly referred to as Winstrol Depot.
